I probably registered that early originally too... right out of high school. I don't remember the act of registering but I remember the standing joke about our registrations cancelling each other out... and from other things I did think that one's registration showed party. So: Maybe it does, maybe it doesn't. Maybe some do or none do. I clearly would prefer none did, but then how would they gerrymander? Mine shows received, too. I will be glad (I hope I will be) when this election is over!
I did not and there was no place to do so anyway. As for primaries, once you've either returned a mail ballot or voted in person it's noted in your record, so there's no way you could then try to vote in the other side's as well. Not difficult to manage at all.
I *think* when I requested permanent absentee ballot I did specify Democratic so they'd know which to send me. But that still doesn't preclude my ability to vote in any Republican one instead. I'd just have to go in person. And then I'd not be able to vote in the Democratic one.
