Trump promised he would be a Dictator for a Day (like Queen for a Day but without the refrigerator?) on Day One. Well, he’s off to a great start—dictating absurd nominations; his MAGA lickspittles click their heels, snap a salute, “Sir yes sir!”
In my opinion? Trump isn't just paying people back for their support, he's 'paying back' the country for not electing him in 2020. In other words, he wants an administration that will cause a maximum amount of harm to a maximum number of people. He will seek to destroy whatever 'liberals' support, whether it's fighting climate change, protecting the environment, or protecting vulnerable communities. But he'll go beyond this...destroying grants to nonprofits, damaging access to healthcare, esp for Medicaid users, undermining our health system, including vaccinations, blasting our food system leading to higher prices. Responsible military will be fired and Proud Boy sympathetic military put in charge.
And we're not even talking about his tariff and deportation threats.
He's a madman, and we have given cowardly Republicans control.
This is on the voters of this country. And I hope to hell they like the upcoming food shortages, pandemics, and depression—not to mention martial law, and military in our streets.
And this is on SCOTUS, and in particular, Roberts.
Can’t blue state attorneys generals cherry pick blue state districts and attempt to jam up some I of the more crazy things that are attempted legislatively? Like they do in Texas.
Just to hang a little additional crepe, whatever regulations have survived the Imperial Texas District Courts, post-8/1/24 regulations are going to have the CRA dropped on them like an Acme safe.
So, the plan is to gawk in horror and politely remind Republican senators, almost all of whom will toe the line, that they should fall on their swords for us, risking actual violence to themselves and their families from Trump supporters? And when that doesn’t work, a fate as destined as gravity?—

In a Washington, where Republicans control the White House and both houses of Congress, Trump’s critics see little in the way of guardrails preventing the future president from pursuing his enemies in this way. “It is incumbent on those around him and on Republican elected officials to uphold their oath to the constitution and make sure our democracy continues to exist,” Goldman, the New York congressman said.
Asked what the prospects for this were, Goldman added: “I have not detected much of an appetite from my Republican colleagues.”

From the lead article in the Guardian now which I can’t link to for some reason: ‘We all have our eyes wide open’: Trump critics brace for dark time of retribution
Lede: Public officials targeted by Trump say they’re preparing for extreme scenarios, including possibility of being arrested
Read the rest. That’s what’s coming. Hope is not a fucking strategy.
Matt Gaetz, private citizen, because he RESIGNED to squash the release of the Ethics Complaint of his lurid activities in Florida. Attorney General material?
I mean, will they even notice? We are learning now that the people who pay attention voted for Harris. So we will be the ones with the blood pressure problems.
Chris, I am worried that Trump will ignore any unfavorable court orders that arise from challenges to his overreach…Alabama 1954 Brown/2023 Allen style.
"If they fail us, we must be aware of their failure." Yes. I believe that so long as we maintain access to reliable information, we have a shot. What concerns me is they might know that too, and turn all their force on journalists and platforms for sharing information.
Chris, what you and others are doing is THE most important work to be doing in these times. Thank you doesn't begin to cover it. Stay safe.
Why hasn't Treason punishment as described in our Constitution been used against the whole lot of them starting with Trump?
Article III, Section 3 of the Constitution: The federal punishment for Treason is "death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000."
Definition... defines Treason as "levying war against the United States, or adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort"
To convict someone of Treason there must be testimony from two witnesses to the same overt act.
While the Constitution outlines the potential punishments for Treason, the specific details of the penalty are left to Congress to determine.
I suggest looking up §2385
Advocating overthrow of Government. There have been many changes to the above over the years. Considering our predicament of trying to control the Madman who will be squatting his lardassed self into OUR Whitehouse, he and all of his partners in crime need to be reeled in and made to pay for their intentions. This before his unChristian Nationalists are handed over the Constitution to trash and rewrite to suit their ideals.
Chris, could you do a quick explainer on recess appointments? I kind of get the feeling that TPTB's attitude is "a president we like gets to make recess appointments, a president we don't like doesn't."

Those who voted for him should not be surprised by these nominations and the actions/laws that will be enacted.

They’ll be recess-appointed. If not, they’ll be approved. C’mon.
Chris, this Substack will be a

But he is not even President yet!
