How does one not despair? Sam Alito is so disingenuous! I’m sure he, Clarence Thomas and John Roberts toast each other with smirks and self-congratulations—we have bamboozled the United States of America!

Trump is too dumb to budge … he probably thinks all this backlash is accolades.

They didn’t discuss Trump’s cases. Wink wink. If you believe that, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.

Thanks for the context...When I first read about the phone call, I assumed Levi was a recent clerk - I appreciate your description of him as a full-grown adult! Alito should of course recuse from at least the NY case appeal, but we all know he won't. Hard to figure out how to maintain our sanity for the next four years:-(

Quinta Jurecic's observation regarding the speed of revealing a conversation between Trump and Alito was by somebody "smug or pissed off enough to go to the press right away.” It may have been somebody brave or intuitive enough. Or maybe courageous or foolhardy enough. Not everyone who speaks up and speaks out is getting even. Maybe they're just doing the right thing.

Is there a transcript of the Alito/Trump conversation? Surely both transcriptees will be eager to have it released, without elision or markup, to their Employers, the American People?

I cannot imagine anything was discussed that would embarrass either conversator, or any subject of their discussion! Well, perhaps Hot Pam Bondi's name came up, but in what context?

Release the transcript!

Why on God’s green earth does a Supreme Court Justice need a recommendation from Donald J Trump for a law clerk? What conceivable questions about a law clerk’s suitability for that role could Trump possibly answer? And why would Trump contact him about it and not the other way round?

The way I read it, it was the other way around.

I would say that Alito is aware that he needs to recuse himself from any of the upcoming or existing cases related to Trump...but we know he won't.

And Roberts will probably pin yet another piece about the poor SCOTUS members and how everyone is picking on them.

Gah...makes my stomach sour.

I love your posts and read them avidly, but they also literally make me feel sick. What can be done when the highest level of justice is corrupt?
