Possibly naive question: how does HIPAA play in these requests? It would seem to me that the confidentiality promised by those statutes are intended to stop exactly this kind of heinous overreach?
Transgender, nonbinary and intersex people at most represent .06 % of the U.S. population. Gay, lesbian, and bisexual people represent only 10% of the U.S. population. African Americans make up 11-13% of the population. The fear ginned up against members of these communities is entirely out of proportion to their numbers in the American population. Trump and the white Christian Nationalists want you to fear them while Trump and the oligarchs pick our pockets and the national treasury clean.
It's all a distraction. And more Americans are switching off from MAGA culture wars now that Trump's term is turning into such an utter distraction. I wrote about this very topic a few days ago.
How many people does this apply to? Why can't we just let people be themselves? Is this just a distraction from crimes committed by TRump and his administration?
I don't even understand why trans people should be feared / why I should fear them. In any number or proportion. If I was looking for a group to fear I'd likely choose "white people". They have the strength in numbers and political power to perpetuate injustice against anyone they don't include. And they'll include and exclude others to suit their needs and preferences, not the needs and preferences of those "others".
Agree 1000%. The very few trans people I've met (and I've only met a few because there are only a few!) are lovely people, who add so much to the world for being themselves. I honestly don't understand why anyone is remotely interested in telling them how to live their lives. Don't they have something better to do? (Yeah, I know, they get a sense of affirmation through cruelty) And I'm not even mentioning the potential loss of life
