It couldn't have happened to a more deserving set of a-holes. They likely mocked the DOJ attorneys as timid and overly concerned with rules. In truth, good lawyers work their asses off before going to court. Defense counsels fear malpractice claims. Plaintiff counsel eat what they kill and can't afford to lose based on stupidity. Government attorneys have agency reputations to uphold. No, I want to see Bar Referrals.
The arrogance of those people, coupled with their ignorance and incompetence, is beyond disquieting. They ought to be sanctioned and referred to the disciplinary bodies responsible for their licenses.
At what point one may ask, does repeated examples of "bad faith" conduct by govt. lawyers became sanctionable acts of *contempt*, of false representation, of misrepresentation, and other actions of dubious ethics.
What high is the bar when exceeding such actually becomes criminally liable in pretrial prosecutorial conduct ?
To me, this was the quote that made me happy gasp:
Judge: You were not aware of the leading case in this field?
Buckley: No.
... This is the kind of thing even a vaguely competent 1L legal research brief would include. I'm honestly starting to wonder if the remaining Trump-appointed attorneys are, y'know, actually attorneys, or if this is an office staffed with a bunch of people he pulled in from off the streets who just added 'attorney-in-fact' to their LinkedIn profiles.
Not a lawyer here and the doj puppets should lose their licenses. trump is a lame duck; the more maga lawyers losing licenses for vengeful prosecitions, the fewer lawyers who will make frivilous trumpian pro/persections
