That was also my immediate reaction!

Yup. Moscow Mitch will trigger a rousing round of "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" when he finally croaks. .

I have sort of given up on the idea of "justice". That "Unitary Executive Theory" really did it for me.

David J. Sharp's avatar

Justice for me … but not for thee.

Jordan Thayer's avatar

The idea that the executive branch should have total control over the executive branch is what caused you to give up on justice? Seriously???

MJ Delaney's avatar

Oh please. You cannot be serious or you have never read and don't know the Constitution.

My favorite part of it is "substantive due process"

MJ Delaney's avatar

Like that pesky Second Amendment substantivve due process?

I really appreciate your legal and ethical interpretations of these Supreme Court cases, Chris. Your knowledge assists your readers to have clear understanding of what decisions are being made, and what the “real life” effect will be. How difficult this will be for green card holders who need to travel internationally!

What blatant racism!

My god, we have so much to do when this current situation finally crumbles! We’ll do it, though. Just inventory the folks on substack, identifying the problems, their precursors, etc.. With so many of us who feel dismayed and disheartened by what’s happening, we will find commonality among us to create a better system to live within. I know it in my bones.

Once again, the Roberts Court makes it easier for the elite to leave their gated heaven … on the very rare occasions that they dare venture forth.

MJ Delaney's avatar

Not for long. VOTE, America. Let's show them the people still have the ultimate say in America

I just don’t get how the right wing of the court (the “Howler Monkey Wing”, as it is referred to in the Law & Chaos pod) has so little self awareness, so much self righteousness, and so much willingness to curtail the rights of the defenseless by expanding the rights of Trump and his minions. They sit in judgment but are themselves so corrupt (which is common knowledge, not even secret!) and illegitimate (thank you, Mitch McConnell, may you rot in hell) that pretty much every thing they do is rotten. Does John Roberts not realize that history will know his court as the most repulsively political and partisan court in this country’s history? Roberts keeps whining about how the SCOTUS majority aren’t political or partisan, but they ARE, and he can’t see it!?!? Shameful.

The Roberts' Kangaroo Court . . . Deserving of ZERO respect. . .

I am so disgusted with this current court, it appears that there is no relaistic view that this majority would simply get a sense of our country in these critical days and "come around" to do the right thing for all Americans and Immigrants who are permanent residents, dreamer, and legal citizens- or basically- anyone..

MJ Delaney's avatar

Lets win in November - take the House and the Senate and expand this bought and paid for compromised SCOTUS before they cancel the Constitution anbd the Bill of Rights and take ALL of the rights and privileges of non-billionare working Americans.

The dreadlocks case demonstrates empirically that race overrides religion in the American power structure hierarchy

Kim Kearns's avatar

But Robert’s swears the court is not political. There is a special room in hell for these people.

Unqualified partisan hackery on full display. These corrupt scum aren't even trying to dress up their activist opinions (remember when the GOP hated that term??) in made up history or other fuckery.
