Transparency is the best weapon against Trump and MAGAs to counter the lies they will spin about the trial. Much like the January 6 Commission airing their investigation which opened a lot of minds about that terrible incident.

There will always be that hard core group that will believe whatever Trump says. But reasonable people can watch the proceedings themselves and decide. No drama, no commentary, just the often boring wheels of justice grinding through the process of presenting the truth.

Shine a light on it so there are no dark corners for conspiracies to grow.

I understand! I was reflecting on the first time I happened to see Trump on The Apprentice. The thought made my stomach knot.

That's certainly fair, and it's sure to lead to some uncomfortable moments. But, if we're going to be charging a former president with such crimes, I think the people deserve to se the trial trying those charges.

Why is DOJ opposing this? Direct video of the trial is the best and quickest way to counter the inevitable lies P01135809 will spew to the cameras about what’s happening in the case

I just had to look that prisoner number up!

Sadly GA didn’t release Rudy Colludys inmate number. Can you look that up? I couldn’t find it

The best disinfectant is sunshine. This trial needs to be televised to help to deprogram Trump's cult following. Not televising it would be a grave mistake.

Is there anything that the public can do to weigh in on this? Anyone we can write/call, or a petition to sign, something like that?

I would be concerned about the safety of those in the courtroom, who will immediately be dozed, harassed, and threatened by Trump supporters.

They could do like the crime shows do, and fuzz out the faces of everyone who isn't already fairly well known, maybe?

Or maybe provide audio only. I'd hazard a guess that the vast majority of what goes on in the trial won't have to be seen to be understood.

Wasn’t it television that put Trump on the national map? Maybe we should be careful what we ask for.

This isn't "television" in the sense that he has used it in the past. It's a trial. This isn't giving him a free hour on stage spouting lies at a campaign event — or even control of a show like The Apprentice. This is a legal proceeding, overseen by a judge, in which he will be speaking little (if hardly at all).

This is my concern as well. I agree there should be a video record, but I think it should be broadcast only after the trial is concluded.

I respectfully disagree. After the outcome, the only ones who would watch are those satisfied with the result. Let people who would do so watch it in real time and see how it unfolds.

But I would only show what the jury is allowed to see.

Agree 100%. After the trial.

I’m sorry but I completely disagree, and am baffled why people I respect like you and Joyce Vance support this idea. I’m old enough to remember the travesty the OJ Simpson trial turned into, and this would be a hundred times worse. Trump is a master at manipulating media and playing to the cameras (that’s actually his only real talent IMHO). The very prospect turns my stomach.

You’re not wrong, but the flip side is that every time he marches in or out he will spout his nonsense at every available camera, and for a good portion of the public that will be all they see. (“I’ve been gagged! I can’t criticize Biden!”) A video record of what’s actually going on is the best way to point out his lies.

All that we can have at the moment is Fani Willis and the Atlanta court proceedings televised and streamed...given the DOJ position on FL and DC, and the Judicial Conference only approving non-criminal trial televising or streaming of court sessions, no hope of seeing tRump squirming in the dock.
