2025 presents a potential, fascinating battle for supremacy: Trump v. Roberts.

Trump believes himself God Emperor (to quote Frank Herbert); Roberts, the divine puppet master. My (uninformed) bet is that Roberts will be maneuvered out: All hail Chief Justice Gorsuch!

And perhaps a re-packing of the Court with more right wing (and white!) males.

In the meantime, I wish Chuck Schumer the best in putting forward more judges who actually believe in justice.

Pardon me if I am not clear how this works, but everything depends on the Constitution being followed, right? These new judges and others like them must be kept in place because of the Constitution? Do we think this administration might have the ability to simply throw the Constitution away? Does that require the military acquiescing and what prevents that? Could these judges all be declared enemies within or something?

I mean, yes, everything does depend on the Constitution being followed. But, this sort of thinking is not at all helpful. This is like seven unconstitutional acts down the line, and, more than that, these are not even acts that Trump has discussed taking.

If that’s how you’re going to go about your life/this coming period, you could literally write this comment on every post for the rest of time. It is giving up, and that is not how I will be approaching things.

Definitely good to know it's several unconstitutional acts down the line. Do note that some of us have close relatives directly affected by the 2nd World War for example, who think of "the order of things" as a lot more tenuous than others.

I will agree with you that clearly, people who didn't give up on democracy won that battle.

Well, Mitch will certainly do his very best to ensure none of these Biden nominees proceed to a vote.

I hope (but do not believe) that Chuck Schumer is ready for a fight.

Thank you Chris. Here's

hoping McConnell will play

nice and Schumer can get

some work done.

Re: Democratic objections to Biden nominees, is there any conceivable reason for a Democratic senator to believe that Biden's nominee is worse that the Trump replacement would be?
