Two lower courts had earlier refused Alabama's request to let the state proceed with its plans to use the method of execution declared unconstitutional on Tuesday.
Many states, and many nations in Europe have eliminated the death penalty. For years, these populations have stumbled along without executing anybody. How do they cope?
My belief is that Alabama wants to kill him, and they want him to feel pain and suffer a slow death. The whole thing smacks of vindictiveness on the part of the state. By not fighting his conviction, but rather fighting the method of execution, Mr. lee seems prepared to face death in a reasonable manner. But no, the state wants its pound of flesh. His ultimate death is not good enough. This, to me, is exactly why we need to abolish capital punishment. It has not in the past, it does not now, and it never will deter people from killing other people. It does not serve a legitimate penalogical purpose. Life in prison without the possibility of parole punishes the person and keeps them separate from society. They can never kill again. When are we ever going to learn these lessons?

1. Sometimes a person is wrongly executed because of mistakes or prejudice in court proceedings. Who can determine fairness?
2. If a person has committed heinous crimes, it would be more punishing to imprison them for life.
3. How is it determined that the means of execution are not torture? It’s impossible to interview a deceased person about their experience.
4. How has Europe survived without the death penalty and remained sovereign and relatively safe?
L’chaim- to Life!
NBC said "it's unclear how quickly [Alabama] would seek viable alternatives,"
:"Viable" seems an odd way to describe killing.
Thank goodness!

They must not realize he is a black man.
So many things taking place in the south as if we were still in the dark ages. Let us live in reality, compassion and honesty.
WHEW!! Too brutal and grotesque even for 6 of the Supremes. TG!!
What could the dissenters--two of them the usual suspects--possibly have been thinking? Would it be worse to know, or is it better not to know?
