Paxton is supposed to be in prison not making judgements on people’s healthcare.

It would be difficult to invent a case that more starkly illustrates how Texas law violates the personal liberty of every American woman. Until “Dobbs,” that right of personal liberty was recognized as protected by the U.S. Constitution. It remains so, but is no longer recognized as such due to a change in personnel irregularly effected by senatorial chicanery and an unprincipled president.

So sad, but like other women who have appealed this, she must be well prepared. She is a courageous woman with an anguishing story and case. We can only be grateful to the pregnant women, the LGBTQ teens, and other vulnerable people who have the courage to tell their stories.

If she were Jewish, it would violate her religious freedom. The oral Torah states:

Mishnah Oholot 7:6

If a woman is having trouble giving birth, they cut up the child in her womb and brings it forth limb by limb, because her life comes before the life of the child. But if the greater part has come out, one may not touch it, for one may not set aside one person's life for that of another.

Texas is what happens when one party controls all three branches of government. They do whatever they want.

If the worst happens and Cox cannot obtain the abortion, if she is forced to carry the fetus to term or suffer sepsis and lose her potential future fertility, would there be any grounds for Cox and her husband to sue Paxton and the state of Texas for violations of their civil liberties and human rights?

So, out of regard for the "sanctity of life" Texas concludes that a woman who WANTS children but whose current pregnancy will not produce one is evilly using abortion as birth control? As opposed to insuring that she will in fact be able to eventually have the child she wants?

It never seems to occur to these interpreters of God's Will that full trisomy 18 is in fact an act of God, and God has given humans the ability to correct this instance of the "Problem of Evil" and may well be saying "Why the F do you not use the tools I've given you?" Funny their God never whispers THAT in their ears.

I remember every last BernOut who insisted Hillary was using 'scare tactics' to force people to vote for her (because she was pointing out that the fate of Roe hung in the balance).

My understanding is that the administrative stay is automatic under Texas law. Once the appeal is made, all preceding lower court action is stayed until disposition of the case by the higher court. So SCOTX is not doing a SCOTUS shadow docket thing here. IANAL and my understanding is certainly incomplete if not completely flawed.

Also, Ken Paxton is a horrible person, but that goes without saying.

Amazing from the same side who can’t have National Healthcare because it would bring the government into people’s doctors offices, have no problem doing it to women. No one of Child bearing age should live in Texas. It’s too dangerous.
