Apparently we are way beyond that sissy concept that “No one’s above the law!” Apparently if you’re rich, right wing, Christian and white (or wholly bought by rich white Christians), you’re legit.

Ethics? Recusal? Responsibility? For pansies only. Only real men need apply.

As a good MAGA judge (following in the mold of Clarence, Samuel, and CJ John), there will be little reason for recusal here in his mind and in the minds to MAGA followers.

Not only is the federal judiciary full of fascists, it's also horribly corrupt. All federal judges should be required to hold all of their assets in blind trusts, as a condition of serving on the bench. As the old saying goes, holding one of these seats is a privilege, not a right. I don't have a problem with paying them more too, but the corruption has got to be stamped out. It's rotten from the supreme court all the way down.

As for the functioning of the public disclosure system, I'd be curious about the funding for it, given that Republicans now hold the House. It might be just like trying to get the IRS funded.

With regard to Mr. Musk, the best solution to that problem is probably for outgoing President Biden to formulate a plan involving his core constitutional powers such that he will be immune from any consequences for actions taken under said plan. Interpret that however you like.

Should do the same for congress. Also, your final sentence contemplates fascism, which you appear to detest in your first sentence. How do you resolve that conflict?

Where or what is the process to force his recusal in these X cases or sanction him for not abiding by the code of ethics?? We have rules in place but these judges just thumb their nose at them. The term ‘judicial integrity’ is becoming an oxymoron!

Is there any indication why Pittman recused? Would be interesting to see whether it was due to some small holding of Tesla..

There is no end to the problems created when lawmakers want to appear to be policing themselves but create labyrinthine process to implement it. The public seldom sees what such laws actually do until the fox they let into the chicken coop has already killed and eaten the chickens. Then it’s too late, and an “oops, sorry, it was an inadvertent oversight” apology is issued by the offenders.

OIG isn’t doing its job. All oversight should be handled by third party non political players bound by stiff fiduciary and ethics rules and empowered to purse convictions with stiff penalties.

Our judiciary is hopelessly corrupt. And — shocker of all shockers — it’s to the benefit of the fascists and the bigots and the billionaire class.

This is clearly corruption. If someone sues the judge he’ll have to recuse. The DOJ will be all over this soon.
