This is how the courts will operate if/when the Republicans win this election. Making anything and everything up as they go, in pursuit of a predetermined outcome. I don't see what can stop this. Someone in a position of power would have to go against their own side of the political divide, and I have yet to see any Republican do that. Which tribe you are in is the ONLY thing that matters in this country anymore.

So the judge admits that other judges are biased and lawyers should be punished for acting in their clients best interest by avoiding the bad judges? If the judges were really fair, there wouldn’t be any point in changing venues.

I have to say that an action that "has the propensity to create the appearance of impropriety in the judicial system" seems in full display in this case--and not the actions of the lawyers being accused.

What ARE the sanctions appropriate for "judge shopping?" Does it happen often?

Will the lawyer renew their mandamus petition?

I’m not sure if this being an order — as opposed to a show cause order — changes their strategy here, so I am waiting. I meant to add a note that nothing has been filed as of yet and will add that in.

Nothing matters — if judges say it

That was it. Nothing more need be said. You captured the essence of this document, and the last two years. Nothing matters, except what the judges think, feel, want, and say. Not the law, not procedure, not rules, nothing.

This is most certainly politically motivated 🤬 And this is being done to discourage transgender people from fighting an unconstitutional law.

As I think I said before, he is judge, jury and prosecutor in his own case. Not only that he denies the defendants the benefit of counsel.

And if as appears there is an absolute right to withdraw a case without any explanation then it must follow as light follows day that the motive for that withdrawal is immaterial.

“I’m shocked, shocked to see judge shopping in these courts!”

The deadline has passed. What did the lawyers do?

I really expected something today. I can't imagine them giving Burke the document, and they shouldn't.

If lawyers allow themselves to be bullied and intimidated in a court of law...what hope is there for the rest of us?

Real shame Liles seems to forget the LGBQ kids he grew up with in Arab or those who have businesses in the area now. This obvious disrespect of the attorneys representing LGBQT individuals in our state brings out the shallow, hateful & overwhelming political side he knows has no part in being a judge. So many of us expect better of him & are glad his father isn't alive to see this transformation. Beyond the obvious, is a poorly written document not worthy of his degree or experience. Shame.

So, do they have to wait until they are jailed before they can appeal to the 11th?
