S.B. 254 would bar gender-affirming care for minors, threaten custody, and add rules limiting adult care. H.B. 1521 would criminalize trans people's bathroom use in government buildings.
Even though challenges will be filed, the chilling effects will endure.
Some days, the cumulative impact of what we've become as a country is overwhelming.
In the space of a week, a man is murdered in the subway, while onlookers casually film his death, a family is murdered for asking a neighbor to stop shooting his gun so their infant could sleep. Texas is openly disenfranchising a city. SCOTUS' corruption seems unending, with daily revelations. Finally, the former president openly promises to pardon insurrectionists.
I don't know how this country can realistically be governed.
Why I only use the family restroom, if at all possible, and try not to think otherwise. Why I don’t announce my pronouns (PLEASE, allies, don’t force people to do this).
I’m in Missouri. We’re not safe. My biggest question: am I better here like this, or homeless somewhere else?
The party of "my body, my choice" with respect to masks and vaccines pissing all over everybody else’s personal medical choices. But it's not worth even bringing up. They ceased caring about their hypocrisy a long time ago.
Remember when NC passed a bathroom bill and was promptly subject to widespread condemnation and boycotts, including by major corporations and NCAA? Simpler times...
Just curious - when the line at the ladies room has been so long that I have been at risk of peeing myself, I have used the men’s room. This is now against Florida law?
Question- in several sections of the bill it says “this paragraph does not apply to students” or prisoners or educators and so on. Does that mean they are allowed to use the bathroom of their choice? Im so confused.
No, different paragraphs apply to different people who would be in the building. In section 9, a addresses students; b, c, and d address staff; and e addresses non-students and non-staff in the building.

The chilling and other effect will endure, indeed. I've noted that in other reports, and it certainly applies here as well.
It’s called fascism: they’re going for it all, have no limits, and they will never stop. Unless stopped.
Does the Supreme Court just need raises or something? Is Justice Thomas not making enough money? Is he living paycheck to paycheck?
The parade of cruelty from the Sunshine State continues unabated. It’s despicable and disgusting.
This is why I haven’t come out.

It's not just Florida. It's like a virus and spreading. Here, in
Arkansas under Gov.Sanders,
we're waiting for her next gut punch.
Feinstein needs to be pushed out. Now. Her selfishness in holding up judges is impacting the entire country at a time when people cannot afford that.
Given recent reporting, I'm not sure it's even her selfishness anymore. Seems it's more her staffers and DNC old guard (Schumer, Pelosi, etc.)
Is the ACLU poised to file suit? Hope so.

Thank you. As someone affected by the bill it’s crazy that I can’t even understand it. Appreciate your help.
Yeah, it’s a horribly confusing bill, in addition to being a horrible bill.
Desantis has declared war on this community he and his republican friends will regret that next election year
