As a citizen of the United States, I hereby reject any attempt to apologize to the embezzler known as Donald Trump.

"Sir, the people are violently angry! You've cut all their healthcare, gas is insane, they can't even afford to buy basic groceries! We have to do something!"

And Trump just says "Let them eat McDonald's"

(I obviously meant that sarcastically)

Before I even read the article, thank you for your ever-reliable legal analysis. I've waited all day for this.

Let's play: "Find the Scam".

There is always a scam in everything Trump does. It's only a question of how long it will take to find it. This is an easy one. Sometimes it takes anywhere from 30 minutes to a week to identify the self-serving scam that Trump is trying to pull off. This one only takes a few seconds.

Here, Trump realized that the Republicans would be instantly slaughtered in the November elections if he induced his Attorney General ( who is also his former losing criminal defense attorney) to sign off on handing him over a billion dollars of the taxpayers' money to comfort him over his grief in having his tax returns improperly released to the public revealing how rich he really is.

Now, in acknowledging that the public would immediately see that such a "settlement" is a scam, he's now come up with a proposal for the D.O.J. ( or rather his D.O.J) to siphon off well over a billion dollars of the taxpayers' money to compensate murderers, rioters, hoodlums, thugs and his own co-conspirators who stormed the Capitol on January 6 and who participated around the country in fabricating phony records and pretexts to enable Trump to install his own impersonating Electors to steal back the Presidency for him, even though 80 courts around the country ruled that Trump had zero evidence of fraud.

This scam appears to direct this billion dollar "settlement " to every defendant investigated for or convicted of a federal crime by a jury of their peers during the 4 years of Biden's presidency .

There is no end to the madness and corruption of this President. He is psychotically obsessed with trying to humiliate Joe Biden for having legally and factually proven that Donald J. Trump ("The Bone-Spur Kid") lost the 2020 election, and was therefore a loser, and a BIG LOSER at that.

Trump made it explicitly clear throughout his 2024 campaign that he intended to go on a revenge tour against everyone who ever wronged him. Now, he wants the American taxpayer to pay for it.

We have a very mentally unstable, volatile, unpredictable and trigger-happy blowhard stting in the White House. We need to come together as a country to agree on and enforce guardrails that will hold for at least the next 2 years when, hopefully, sanity can be restored.

In theory, anyone could file a claim. I apologize for the fact that his self-absorbed children didn't have the spines to drag him to a gerontologist and neurologist for a REAL competency determination, followed by a declaration that he as not competent to manage his own affairs. To be followed by subsequent "warehousing" in "Happy Hills Long Term Care Facility."

Based on the flimsy documentation we have now, what is to prohibit every citizen of the United States, or applicants for citizenship, from filing a request to be paid for the lawfare and weaponization of the GOP? I have many claims I'd like to make against them.

Indeed correct. I am no Trump admirer. But it is also the case that the IRS didn't leak tax information on any other public figure. And I begin there.

Opposition to the guy makes some sense. Demonize him, and you end up being more dangerous than he is. The old Nietzsche axiom

Barbara Frezza's avatar

The IRS didn't leak any information on Trump's tax returns. And neither did his accounting firm until the court order issued. Most if it came from pdfs of divorce records that may have been archived in reporters' records for over a decade.

“There is no bottom to the depravity of Republican lawyers” gets a new update.

Ok. So, since Trump will pardon his aiders, abettors and accessories after the fact, who’s planning the class action lawsuits on behalf of the American people over this and all the other applicable desecrations?

Frank Dudley Berry, Jr.'s avatar

It's a one-sided settlement, but the act of disclosing tax returns is also pretty poor.

Bill Trethewey's avatar

Yes, that is why the person who disclosed Trump's taxes is in jail. And Trump was president at the time of disclosure, so Trump is the one liable.

Frank Dudley Berry, Jr.'s avatar

Silly thing to write. No President is culpable (sic) for unauthorized criminality of some civil servant.

Bill Trethewey's avatar

That is no siller than thinking the DOJ is responsible. Maybe it is the commissioner of the IRS? Maybe the Secretary of the Treasury? Or maybe just the person who violated the law, who is being punished.

Lance Khrome's avatar

Does this "settlement" in fact permit trump to make a claim on the $5 million won in a civil suit heard in a Manhattan federal court in 2023 by plaintiff E Jean Carroll, as an example of "weaponization of the courts" against trump?

You want me to swim in their shit? Hell no. I may have to pay for it, but I'm not jumping in of my free will. Are you trying to kill me?

Paul Feeney's avatar

Who would have standing to sue to stop this? Taxpayers? Congress? What the actual fuck is going on? This is MADNESS

I admittedly didn't follow this closely, and math was not my strong suit, but I thought they were outside sol anyway. Can I simply not count or what did I miss here?
