This District Attorney is a lawless rogue. Despite the fact that the law was already declared unconstitutional by a federal court in his own state, this guy just pissed on that decision like it was nothing. If I were Judge Greer I would have issued an OSC as to why the District Attorney shouldn't be the subject of sanctions for ignoring the prior ruling and why he shouldn't pay, out of his own pocket, the costs of filing for the TRO. And I would have made the OSC returnable by 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday so the bastard would have to spend time over the holiday weekend drafting the response.

These people - these self-identified law and order patriots and "constitutional conservatives" - have just completely lost their sense of what is required with respect to the legal process. They have complete contempt for precedent they don't like in both the legal and colloquial sense. And as a lawyer I find that really offensive. It's corrosive.

Why is it so important to drag queens that they perform in front of children on public property? Why would a judge overturn the law that bans strippers or drag Queen shows or go go dancing on public property in front of kids?

Freedom of speech and expression are both important rights we have as citizens.

With that said, what do you believe a drag performance to be?

At the risk of hijacking the excellent writings of Chris, I'd refer you to an article in Psychology Today by Joe Kort, Ph.D., LMSW, titled "Silence of the Trans", where he states, "it is a common myth to believe 'gay' is synonymous with 'pedophile.'" With that said, not all drag performers are gay.

Just because you think that way doesn't mean everyone else does.

FWIW, Judge Greer is a GWBush appointee, and has served honorably in the East TN District. since 2003. Yet another fed, judge who takes his oath of office seriously, and brooks no petty interferences from MAGA county officials trying desperately to make a name for themselves at the expense of vulnerable members of our society. WTAF is up with these creepy "law enforcement" people in TN already?

That's gotta sting when you're a would-be authoritarian. It sucks getting smacked down by a judge.

An already infamous case scheduled for the January docket should determine whether this judge draws a line between homosexuality and pederasty.

Good!!! So much for "we gotta arrest these folks before the judge tells us in particular doing so is unconstitutional." What worries me is that he will now use this to order the cops to stand down if protestors attack the parade. "Why, we can't interfere, can we??"
