Just some of Trump's final moves in a day apparently aimed at wrecking American government and harming those who rely on federal grants or foreign aid.
“If i am killed for simply living, let death be kinder than man”. Only this is on my mind these says. Comparing Nazi Germany and how Hitler’s party began, it’s very similar to Trumps villainizing, anti constitutional and ultranationalist sentiments.
“Ultranationalism has been an aspect of fascism, with historic governments such as the regimes of Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany building on ultranationalist foundations by using specific plans for supposed widespread national renewal”(World Fascism A-K , 2006)
Unlearned lessons from history will repeat. The question will be who will be the victims this time?
No mystery, genocide against we transgender Americans has already begun and will be completed by July 4th, 2025. By then all we transgender people will be either detransitioned, re-closeted, incarcerated, dead, or fled to safer countries. Some might be interned in conversion therapy camps but most of us will probably wind up in our existing incarceral industrial complex where we'll be raped and beaten to death and denied healthcare until we die, or we'll contract HIV, receive no treatment, and die of THAT.
Why build an expensive Gestapo, concentration camps, and industrial crematoria when you can just use the perfectly good system already in place created to use the war on drugs and the war on terror to genocide Black Americans and immigrants?
It's already in motion.
It's already happening and I expect there will STILL be people who will later claim "we didn't KNOW!"
Completely true.. I’m 20 and I just started to heal from childhood trauma and started to heal from dissociation all of my life. I’m transgender and I haven’t even gotten to start hormones or anything of the surgeries I want to become myself. Now with this dicktator my dysphoria and anxiety combine to ruin my days and sometimes make me wanna kms for real. All I could hope for is to move away somewhere. I’m also a triple Ace for Dorito and his ICE stormtroopers im an American citizen and a Colombian immigrant and a trans guy. My aunt spent so many Colombian pesos on trying for an American visa and Dorito cancelled every single appointment. Most Colombians have been waiting since 2019 for their visa appointments because of covid. AND he’s shitting on my family’s business with the tariffs and his Chinese drone ban. Dorito is single handedly fucking up my life it almost makes me laugh. 😂 I honestly rather be homeless in some other safer country cuz at least there ill be treated better in housing than living in America.
“… honesty, humility, uniformity, and integrity.” Who wrote this shit? Too many syllables for The Donald. Miller? Well, someone trumpish, and with no sense of irony … or shame.
By banning so called divisive concepts not only would they ban the Thurgood Marshall speech cited but most of the speeches, particularly the widely noted Fourth of July speech by Frederick Douglass.
Isn’t that the point? Trump and Project 2025 aim to take us back to when white males were the only group that mattered, the standard by which everything was judged.
So, their culture war argues that trans women have too much of a physical advantage to compete in women’s sports, but they’re not lethal enough to be military warriors.
Project 2025 had everything ready to roll out and Stephen Miller and others talked about flooding the zone. It was part of his stay out of jail plan. He doesn’t care who he throws under the bus. It’s his MO. What institution has not surrendered? Last time we could rely on the courts. That’s not the case this time.
Our deep vestiges of racism and misogyny kept too many from voting for a different American than we are living in now, truly an inferno.
"It’s going to be tough explaining the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, Fifteenth, and Nineteenth amendments to those students after being told that the 'founding documents' weren’t 'racist or sexist.'"
Nah, those amendments were just correcting some whoopsie-doodles and minor boo-boos. Everyone makes mistakes, even the founders! That's why pencils have erasers!
Seriously though, were I one of those professors, I would simply agree that the founding documents weren't racist or sexist. The people who wrote them, on the other hand, sure as hell were. Because nothing in that EO says they can't say that.
Dear God, he is a monster and so are his handlers. I can't even find the right word for all he's doing in the name of becoming another Hitler and turning the United States on its ear. We are all human beings and he's treating everybody like they mean nothing. Caring is beyond his vocabulary and way of being. Trans in the military have served honorably and dutifully, and how dare he say they're not being honest. Honest about WHAT? The fuck is he even talking about? He makes me sick, I hate him, and I really do hope God strikes fear into each and every one of them responsible for this nightmare he has bestowed upon American people.
Sorry, I am not close to being a lawyer-type and my response is completely emotional, because I AM! I hope he dies soon, but then we're left with the shit load of people who put him up to all this. They will carry on implementing this load of bullshit. Dammit! 😡

While I strongly disapprove of Trump's order insofar as it limits academic freedom, I disagree strongly with the claim that America's constitution is racist or that we must call it racist to explain the need for these various amendments. It's enough to merely point out that the US constitution as originally written didn't do anything to fight this evil and amendments were needed to do so.
I think many Americans -- including me -- hear calling the constitution racist as saying not merely that the constitution as originally written was imperfect but that it was actively morally bad document. That had you been alive at the time of ratification you should have spoke out against ratifying such a racist document because it was literally worse than nothing. I don't think many Americans on any side think that it wasn't good to pass these amendments or doubt their importance in fighting racism. But that's really not the same as calling the original document racist. Before the bill of rights the constitution didn't prohibit the quartering of troops but that doesn't mean it was somehow pro-troop quartering.
Yes, the original constitution included the 3/5ths compromise and didn't bar slavery. But it also seems clear that demanding that it did would have resulted in no constitution and it's not at all clear to me that wouldn't have prolonged the evil of slavery. I think one can make interesting arguments on that point but it's getting a bit beyond the scope.

I think a big reason for Trump's support is that many people feel the left is always telling them the things they value are bad. One of those things is the constitution and I don't see what is gained by making the more controversial claim that it is racist over saying it didn't try to fight slavery and racism.
I appreciate this perspective. I've seen a lot of people shut down automatically when things like this are said. The blanket statement doesn't accept the nuance and seemingly impossible compromise of trying to get all these newly formed states to agree on a binding document. I'm working on this type of language when I speak as well.
Good points. Also, I want to be clear that I don't mean to blame Chris (I'm sure I do similar things) or deny the very important criticisms of Trump's EOs he made just point out how this gets perceived.
“… a commitment to an honorable, truthful, disciplined lifestyle …” Look who’s talking!
Yeah. This is insane.
Yes, Trump’s Immaculate Perception: I is perfect!

Chris, great column—nightmares tonight.

Thanks Chris for paying attention to the specific details and also revealing their implications so lucidly.

Same! Chris, you're helping me stay sane amidst the chaos!
Thanks you Chris.
“mental health constraints” a reason to negate? !!!
Was he successful at this last time? It got held up in court for 4 years.
