The image of the White House standing in 33% ruins is an apt metaphor for what this administration means to do to the nation. Honestly it makes me physically ill to look at.

Which is why I didn't. Don't think I could get that awful scene out of my memory bank.

Exactly. And he is doing worse to the Constitution and the American people. But this gut-punch visual tells us there is nothing he won't destroy...because he can.

I want to exile him to a rapidly melting ice berg somewhere in the neighborhood of Greenland...

Oh, I found in my Sept issue of NatGeo, that someone in Foggy Bottom DID name the northern half of the Gulf of "America", while the bottom (basically from Yucatan S to SA) IS still labeled the "Gulf of Mexico". It's on pg. 100 (I don't have the expertise or the tools to copy the page; at 84, I am lucky to be able to type).

That scene would be second in ugliness to what is happening to the WH - the People's House, for crying out loud...

He is treating the People's House as though he owns it. What a vile POS he is. This destruction makes me weep.

The desiccation of the White House, an historical building to make it suitable for millions of dollar dinners for a dictator wannabe should chill the soul of every American voter. I know my Soul is quivering. The nerve of the Dictator who wants to spread manure over all of US. This just gives this deaf Senior Citizen Activist the fighting urge to join the March in D.C. in November even if I have to crawl to get there. This IS YOUR TAXPAYER DOLLARS DOING THIS! Destruction is Trump’s ideology—destroy America, destroy the Constitution, destroy scientific research, destroy medicine, destroy physics, destroy education, destroy Blue cities, destroy freedom of speech, destroy due process, destroy the judiciary, destroy education, destroy the military. The goal is destruction. Well, here I am. An old lady and yes, I feel fear for myself and my loved ones and NO, I am not now nor will I ever be afraid to stand up against the absolute amorality of this administration and the dictator wannabe. If you are afraid but want to speak out or move forward, here…hold my hand. This old deaf lady is going to Washington to fight against this. I will keep you safe. Just hold my hand and together we will move forward to remove this regime and reclaim our White House, our Country and Our Constitution. Together we can do anything for Good.

I have heard that only the interior design is being paid for by private donors, while demolition and construction costs are going to be on the taxpayer dime, despite trump's claims. Methinks someone needs to keep tabs on the books, because I don't trust the inveterate liar to be telling the truth about any aspect.

I guarantee that EVERY penny (plus obscene markup/grift) will be paid by the taxpayers. Cheetolini will likely collect millions in bribes "earmarked" for this abomination, but will pocket all of them.

Such despicable, classless grift and lack of respect for the country. If it gets built, it will likely be just as tacky as the budget bordello-themed Oval Office . . .

Like the border wall, right? That Mexico was gonna pay for?

And it will be ostentatious like nobody has ever seen. Or wanted to see. Glitter that would make a seven year old girl swoon...maybe gold wall-to-wall carpet, because he doesn't move his feet when he pretends to dance, and dancing ain't what will be happening in this ballroom anyway.

That would be the job of Congress, right? And the current majority gives him a pass for whatever he wants. So our taxpayer dollars enrich him and his family and, yes, Argentina.

Trump is paying part of the costs? I call BS on that. He won't pay for anything that he can't take with him when he leaves.

Or is this the plan? Don't leave, and start a North Korean-style family dynasty, with the emphasis on "nasty"?

Disgusting. Begs the question: Exactly who is expected to cha-cha therein? MAGA—horrors, too scruffy. Donors, Arab princes, smug dictators … and donors. Black tie and propeller beanie only.

And of course the GOP in Congress sits by silent and complicit in this rape of the nation’s heritage. Of course they do because the rape of anyone and of anything is of no interest or import to them unless they can blame the damage on some despised group such as immigrants who are not white and liberals who are called marxists because that is a bad word and LGBT people because the very thought is scary.

You know, firing live artillery shells at a crowded freeway is a hard act to top--especially after the delicious Hoist With His Own Petard moment of a shell hitting J.D. Vance's car. But blowing up the White House WHILE HE LIVES THERE is indeed a topper.

Is there anyway to know whether the historic furnishings or other objects were removed prior to the revving of the backhoes? My concern is they just demolished not only the building, but whatever contents were in the East Wing.

It reminds me of the Gospel story of the rich farmer who was overcome with - I am at a loss to describe the guy's emotion - but, whatever it was, he went on greed mode, rejoicing that he could "lie back, eat, drink and be merry". God tapped him on the shoulder and said, "Guess what, you fool. This night your life will be requested of you".

We have a president who can do anything he wants any time he wants. No one to stop him and his openly racist, bigoted followers, including SCOTUS. I won't stop protesting and doing what I can, but he operates with impunity with a make-me-stop mentality. So far we haven't been able to.
