This just popped into my inbox and it made me physically ill. These decisions are not being made by people with the best interests of our country or even our military in mind.

Michael's avatar

"As such, trans people will be kicked out of the military and lose their career during that time only because they are trans and the Trump administration has decided — as has happened many times with other groups throughout our history — that such status is “incompatible” with military service."

Suppose the plaintiffs were to eventually win on the merits. It wouldn't matter for any trans person currently serving in the military, would it? They are essentially deciding the merits without a word and without argument.

I think this is a shameful ruling, even more shameful for not a single justice in the majority to write a word, and even shameful for the liberals to stay silent.

It’s hard to take oaths to be honest and all the rest when you are lying about who you are.. you’re up there in a dress but you’re a dude!

Michael's avatar

Agree on all counts

They are not lying! They are straitforwardly calling themselves trans”

Those comments were inappropriate, so I deleted them.

What are these sex fixations from the right coming from? If men transitioned to women are the far right afraid their sex workers might be men? I am being sarcastic here and I just can’t get over this fixation with genitalia by the right. If my life depended on the person next to me I would want them to be able to shoot straight not drop their draws.

Doug Tarnopol's avatar

They are absolutely consumed with excessive, obsessive interest in children’s genitals.

What’s “Q” got to say about that?

Debbie's avatar

So let them be and move on to climate change or freeing our deported citizens. Gender identity is best handled by physicians and psychologists and family members. I have walked with transitioning individuals. I’ve heard their stories, held their hands. We need to extend our hand not bend to political pressure. You mentioned a report you’d read. One? There a multiple reports pro and con. I’ve talked with professionals and transitioned people. I’m proud of people struggling with gender identity issues who stand up everyday feeling they don’t belong and being denied access to healthcare. But they go forward one 24 hours at a time. Now they are blamed and shamed like it’s 1950 again. Caitlin Jenner was able to do what made her feel whole because she had support and funds. Everyone who struggles with gender dysphoria needs support and help. Professional. What is happening to our trans community now is egregious.

Cathy Eide's avatar

You ask how many people who believe they are Tran do I know, quite a few. As you know there has been an epidemic of young girls who use social media that have seen the need to become boys. They neither one meet any criteria for gender dysfunction, but have both joined the current phase. Another close friend has always leaned towards the boy side and has been on hormones for a long time, she doesn’t look like a guy, just a woman with facial hair, but seems happy.

Without the trans movement she would probably be as happy being called a butch Lesbian and healthier without the testosterone.

I think the guys in dresses taking over women’s spaces and being crude and rude to women are the strange ones.

Caitlyn Jenner is a real transgender person. Her life story is truly amazing. She also deserves respect for what she is now and what she accomplished as Bruce Jenner. She says males should not compete against women. She should know.

She doesn’t hate women. She has daughters she loves.

Unlike these people who really are women haters, she is a good example.

Debbie's avatar

How many do you know?

Cathy Eide's avatar

Sorry, but it’s the Trans folks working on kids genitalia

Debbie's avatar

Cathy we have professional physicians and caring families assisting these kids. You may have no reference for not feeling comfortable in your own body. It doesn’t mean you can judge those that don’t. Professionals are educated to help. Leave it to them.

But our country has problems beyond targeting transitioning. Focus on that.

Cathy Eide's avatar

I have an issue with any country that allows it’s children to be processed into a cult that has virtually no foundation in medicine and uses these children to further some unproven and misguided plan to create a homosexual free world. What else is

it? Grab any girl that leans a bit an athlete.. must be a boy, off with the breast and pump her full of testosterone.

Little boy, why do you hold that doll? Get him, must be a girl, you know what to do! He’s really a girl.

Really?

saria's avatar

sooo umm you mean like both the church and maga? both are a preeeeetty big cult with no foundation in medicine.

Cathy Eide's avatar

I focus on the children because they can’t speak for themselves.

Cathy Eide's avatar

Have you no pity? Have you no shame? These are children. Too young to realize they are giving up their ability to have children. Too young to understand the BS you people are dishing out.

Have you read the CASS REPORT?

Debbie's avatar

How many trans people do you know?

David J. Sharp's avatar

Ah, here we go, back to the Fifties—the “again” in MAGA. The Roberts Court has been chipping away at all the Sixties gains: integration, gay rights, civil rights, everything but miscegenation (disco dancing in Bali tonight!).

Can’t wait for the decision that all men are NOT created equal … only pale, straight ones.

Michael's avatar

Got that right Dave. Why did the liberal justices choose to be silent? If ever there was a time for scorching dissents this was it. Was it really so cut and dried? Mighty oaks of intolerance from small acorns grow. Who's next to be targeted by the bigots?

David J. Sharp's avatar

Actually, there was no opinion at all - neither dissent nor concurrence; nor any appearance by petitioners or respondents - just an order.

Shelley Powers's avatar

They weren't silent. They noted they would have supported letting the block stay in place, and rightfully so.

But our conservatives...oh no, they believe in causing the greatest harm to the greatest number of people they can.

Cathy Eide's avatar

The Court has not touched Gay Rights, they are still safe and sound. Trans ideology has gone as far, or much further than it should ever have gone.

Consider this, in uniform, a man dressed in a woman’s uniform waiting for a recognition from a lower ranking officer.

This would never have happened ten years ago, and hopefully will not happen again.

Everyone knows this Trans “ thing” is a lie. You can dress like the other sex, but you aren’t the other sex.

Eventually, what happened in England’s Supreme Court will happen here.

David J. Sharp's avatar

And this is what drives American politics? Obsession with a tiny percentage of the population? Wait till they hear about Negroes!

Cathy Eide's avatar

You keep deleting my reply

David J. Sharp's avatar

I can’t delete anyone’s comments but my own.

Cathy Eide's avatar

David, I think you really need to study the review of EU Supreme Court decision regarding “what is a woman?”

Cathy Eide's avatar

I keep hearing about how this “tiny” group can’t be important in America or especially in American politics. Maybe they won’t notice what we do, think. believe?

That is a weird statement.

Instead of validating your beliefs, just saying they probably won’t notice.

As for Gays, don’t you think they’ve noticed that the justification for all the “Baby Trans” is the parents fear of having a gay or lesbian child?

How does that sit with them?

David J. Sharp's avatar

Yes, one’s femininity is something to cherish … can’t let anyone else intrude?

Cathy Eide's avatar

Anyone can put on a dress but only a woman is a woman.

Cathy Eide's avatar

Anyone can wear a dress. Only a woman is a woman.

David J. Sharp's avatar

And what do you think the “T” stands for in LGBTQ?

Cathy Eide's avatar

You added everything after B

Nate/Nancy's avatar

Disgustingly un-American, but why am I even surprised anymore?

Susie's avatar

Shameful, backward, unjust!

Zach's avatar

Very, very bad. District judges - from across the political spectrum - have been doing such good work, and then this SCOTUS invariably goes and enables all of the worst impulses of this regime. History will hold them responsible as accomplices to all of the destruction of this era.

bobbie cottrill's avatar

This is appalling...trans people should ve allowed to serve if that is what they want. Their being trans does not take away from their ability to fight and to serve their country. The Cheeto needs to be gone!

janinsanfran's avatar

Very clear. We are ruled by a judicial majority of ignorant bigots.

Merlyn's avatar

What in the what? This Shadow Docket is a nightmare. Rulings without any reason why, rulings without listing who voted and how, rulings without arguments…

And this, instead of leaving the status quo in place until a final decision is made, just go ahead and discharge all the trans folks while the courts are deciding if it’s the right thing to do. I don’t understand. There was no viable justification for the EO in the first place other than “we don’t like your kind around here.”

Brittany's avatar

Chris, could another possible reason for the stay be because a district court issued a nationwide injunction?

Chris Geidner's avatar

If that was their issue, then they could have issued a stay as to the nationwide scope of the injunction while leaving it in effect as to the named plaintiffs. DOJ actually offered that up as an alternative argument if the court didn’t want to grant a full stay. But, the court did not do that. Instead, the majority issued a full stay — even as to the named plaintiffs.

C Kipps's avatar

Really cannot publicly describe the emotions I have toward the Conservatives on this Bench right now.

Susan Linehan's avatar

Do you think the Extremes would have given great deference to the elimination of black soldiers in the military?

Shannyn Frank's avatar

That’s an interesting point. The white supremacists are happy for black people to die in service of this country but not trans people. Can they possibly hate trans people more than black people? Or as you suggested, would they grant a Kegseth order to eliminate all POC from the military too?

Cathy Eide's avatar

There is no parallel between black soldiers and men dressed as women

Susan Linehan's avatar

we aren’t talking drag here.

Susan V's avatar

This is utterly shameful and beyond disgusting. I'm outraged, again.

Cathy Eide's avatar

You understand that the Trans Craziness is over every where else in the world? It’s only here we’re supposed to pretend men who wear dresses are real women.

Doug Tarnopol's avatar

Nicely explained; thanks!
