This just popped into my inbox and it made me physically ill. These decisions are not being made by people with the best interests of our country or even our military in mind.

"As such, trans people will be kicked out of the military and lose their career during that time only because they are trans and the Trump administration has decided — as has happened many times with other groups throughout our history — that such status is “incompatible” with military service."

Suppose the plaintiffs were to eventually win on the merits. It wouldn't matter for any trans person currently serving in the military, would it? They are essentially deciding the merits without a word and without argument.

I think this is a shameful ruling, even more shameful for not a single justice in the majority to write a word, and even shameful for the liberals to stay silent.

What are these sex fixations from the right coming from? If men transitioned to women are the far right afraid their sex workers might be men? I am being sarcastic here and I just can’t get over this fixation with genitalia by the right. If my life depended on the person next to me I would want them to be able to shoot straight not drop their draws.

They are absolutely consumed with excessive, obsessive interest in children’s genitals.

What’s “Q” got to say about that?

Hegseth will start the purge after happy hour tonight. (Gotta celebrate first, amirite?) Then, when the military is down ~4,000 honorable members of our military, I wouldn't put it past Trump and his ilk to re-instate the draft.

At this point in time, I would encourage any *draftee* to proclaim that they're in the middle of transitioning.

Make Draft-dodging Great Again!!!

Ah, here we go, back to the Fifties—the “again” in MAGA. The Roberts Court has been chipping away at all the Sixties gains: integration, gay rights, civil rights, everything but miscegenation (disco dancing in Bali tonight!).

Can’t wait for the decision that all men are NOT created equal … only pale, straight ones.

Got that right Dave. Why did the liberal justices choose to be silent? If ever there was a time for scorching dissents this was it. Was it really so cut and dried? Mighty oaks of intolerance from small acorns grow. Who's next to be targeted by the bigots?

Actually, there was no opinion at all - neither dissent nor concurrence; nor any appearance by petitioners or respondents - just an order.

They weren't silent. They noted they would have supported letting the block stay in place, and rightfully so.

But our conservatives...oh no, they believe in causing the greatest harm to the greatest number of people they can.

The Court has not touched Gay Rights, they are still safe and sound. Trans ideology has gone as far, or much further than it should ever have gone.

Consider this, in uniform, a man dressed in a woman’s uniform waiting for a recognition from a lower ranking officer.

This would never have happened ten years ago, and hopefully will not happen again.

Everyone knows this Trans “ thing” is a lie. You can dress like the other sex, but you aren’t the other sex.

Eventually, what happened in England’s Supreme Court will happen here.

David, I think you really need to study the review of EU Supreme Court decision regarding “what is a woman?”

I keep hearing about how this “tiny” group can’t be important in America or especially in American politics. Maybe they won’t notice what we do, think. believe?

That is a weird statement.

Instead of validating your beliefs, just saying they probably won’t notice.

As for Gays, don’t you think they’ve noticed that the justification for all the “Baby Trans” is the parents fear of having a gay or lesbian child?

How does that sit with them?

Very, very bad. District judges - from across the political spectrum - have been doing such good work, and then this SCOTUS invariably goes and enables all of the worst impulses of this regime. History will hold them responsible as accomplices to all of the destruction of this era.

This is appalling...trans people should ve allowed to serve if that is what they want. Their being trans does not take away from their ability to fight and to serve their country. The Cheeto needs to be gone!

What in the what? This Shadow Docket is a nightmare. Rulings without any reason why, rulings without listing who voted and how, rulings without arguments…

And this, instead of leaving the status quo in place until a final decision is made, just go ahead and discharge all the trans folks while the courts are deciding if it’s the right thing to do. I don’t understand. There was no viable justification for the EO in the first place other than “we don’t like your kind around here.”

Chris, could another possible reason for the stay be because a district court issued a nationwide injunction?

Expand full comment
Chris Geidner's avatar

If that was their issue, then they could have issued a stay as to the nationwide scope of the injunction while leaving it in effect as to the named plaintiffs. DOJ actually offered that up as an alternative argument if the court didn’t want to grant a full stay. But, the court did not do that. Instead, the majority issued a full stay — even as to the named plaintiffs.

Do you think the Extremes would have given great deference to the elimination of black soldiers in the military?

Expand full comment
Shannyn Frank's avatar

That’s an interesting point. The white supremacists are happy for black people to die in service of this country but not trans people. Can they possibly hate trans people more than black people? Or as you suggested, would they grant a Kegseth order to eliminate all POC from the military too?
