Lady Liberty weeps . . .

The Supreme Court, with its shadow docket, has become a farce. Here, in this case, despite the reasoning of both the district and appellate court, the Supreme Court refused to enumerate their arguments overturning BOTH decisions. The Venezuelans are now considered non-legal immigrants or in MAGA terms "criminals" yet they are not being afforded due process rights granted under the Constitution. Not only that, but the Court's action is an affront to the judicial philosophy to prevent irreparable harm while the Courts consider the matter - this decision, in fact, does just the opposite. It does *irreparable* harm to Venezuelans who came to America to escape persecution and poverty just as our forefathers did. And, finally, shame on Justices Sotomayor and Kagan for not following Justice Jackson's decision not to support the decision.

My only hope is that this can be reversed on appeal. But yes, shame on Kagan and Sotomayor for their ruling

The Robert's Kangaroo Court continues to cover themselves in shame. The cowardice of yet another shadow docket ruling is sadly appropriate for at least the despicable, corrupt partisan hacks that make up the majority, but I'm getting really tired of the three competent judges silently going along. Reeks of collaboration . . .

I hate this whole fucking administration and every one of its stated goals for anyone who isn’t white. The Supreme Court isn’t holding much in the way of my respect either although that has been slipping for years now. McConnell did a pretty good job with doing that. Project 2025 is well underway.

The current administration, guided by a convicted felon and known sexual predator, apparently believes brown skin (*any* color skin but fish belly white) deserves no protection under the law. Smug & gleeful, SCOTUS agrees with a placid passive aggressive face.

Today the majority of the United States Supreme Court Justices showed their true colors. They are not to be trusted. They are as despicable malicious as Trump. They are now truly part of the Trump's regime.

Chief Justice Roberts claims SCOTUS to be colorblind … with a straight face … methinks they’re more concerned with keeping their jobs than a silly thing like justice.

It's called TPS (Temporary Protected Status), temporary, being the key word. If the previous administration can extend it, then makes sense that the current administration can repeal it. Gross and inhumane, sure, but it's not unconstitutional nor unlawful. The point of giving TPS is that you think they will be prosecuted back in their home country, there's no reason why the current administration must be bound by what the previous administration believed.

Of course, Nazis don't need any "reasons," to eviscerate protections for immigrants who are clearly at risk if deported back to their previous country- in this case, Venezuela.

Trump gives TPS to white nationalists from Europe. If Democrats win in 2029, should they be able to repeal that?

Agreed that SCOTUS is egregiously hiding behind its shadow docket and its craven (intended?) refusal to back opinion with discernible law.

"Donald Trump is seeking to implement a lawless, heartless, process-free anti-immigration system with racist underpinnings" Worst is yet to come. Donald "The Beast" Trump is building a wall once again. Colossal tariff wall that is the beginning of the end for the system of down. At first the beast will pull the plug out of the global economy. The worst financial crisis of human history will pull a swarm of the banks underwater and the bank run begins. Then the beast will collapse a mountain of debt shattering the backbone of the monetary system causing a systemic risk to realize. Finally the beast will cast American citizens into a system slavery under the name of Ronald Wilson Reagan, just to "honor his legacy" count the number. After the destruction a new world order will be established in the US. And the Golden Age begins from the ruins of the world wide collapse. All of the system slaves will love it. No more cash - just digital transactions. No more traditional criminal activity. No more tax evasion. No more transactions without the "all seeing eye". Outcasts will hate the world without freedom, hope and privacy. To cover up the mess and distract the public by smoke and mirrors, the beast will engage in a war with Iran. Lies and deceit, corruption and decay, dancing on the graves will continue. Until; Black hole sun, won't you come, won't you come... I want to play a game. Time has come to opt out of the empire of filth. Live or die...

As I have commented elsewhere:

The more I think about it, the more I wonder if the recent ruling on TPS is really about giving trump et al (aka tRumPetal) enough rope to hang itself on the due process issue. It is, of course, just the revocation of a stay, not a decision on the merits.

Because this is NOT permission to load up the planes. These people entered the US legally. In that, they are just like someone who overstayed a visa. This is a CIVIL offense, not a criminal offense, and government recourse is to get an immigration court deportation order. Those courts are clearly backlogged beyond constipation. So what this appeal has accomplished is adding up to a million people to the "11 million" he complains about. At least it is known where they are. But they clearly can't be shipped outside the country while waiting for the immigration courts to act, and we certainly have no place to PUT all those people within the country.

They will lose their work permits. Along with the roughly 11 million people currently working without work permits. (If you HAVE a work permit, you are not "undocumented.") And if they work under the table, the government won't get the taxes they pay that they can never actually benefit from anyway. Let's hear it for reducing the deficit.

As far as I can tell, the underlying question before the courts, with or without a TRO/Preliminary Injunction, is whether Noem was justified in "revoking" the extensions filed by the Biden Administration--as far as I can tell, properly filed in the Federal Register. It looks from the statute (I'm not sure about this) that the extension portion is subject to the Administrative Procedures Act. This either requires notice and hearing to change or can be expedited through a "good cause" If I have the right rule in the Federal Register, it became final before trump was inaugurated.

So the BASE question is whether Noem had "good cause" to "revoke" the rule. And that opens a fun can of worms, because as far as I can tell there are differences between courts as to what constitutes good cause. Is wanting to deport people actually here legally good cause? It sounds like the District Court has already decided at length that it isn't or isn't likely to be once the legality of the revocation is squarely before the court.

Or is the rule published in the Federal Register NOT subject to the APA? And if not, why not?

My wonder is this - will the high and mighty deporters choose to look the other way when it comes to Venezuelan big money earners like Ronald Acuna, Jr.?
