The White Christian Nationalists who run Tennessee, where I live, want nothing short of a climate so hostile to LGBTQ people that they will all leave. These are not far-sighted, intelligent people. In the name of their White American Jesus, they have destroyed the future of their nominal religion in this country, and, given enough time, they will turn he entire state into an even more Third World place than West Virginia.

He has nothing. Just a petty grievance and the power to abuse his position.

Thank you for going that extra step to actually fly to Alabama (sympathies) to attend this. You're still the only one discussing this. We know the lawyers can't because they seemingly no longer have freedom of speech in addition to the right to practice law.

(Though I still think Burke's latest on the social media demand was because of your writing and his attempt to intimidate you into stopping (holding these lawyers hostage). I know it sounds out in left field, but seriously...everything about this 'trial' of these lawyers is out in left field.)

In the meantime, Texas just keeps on doing its thing, though the latest Rule 28(j) from Paxton is a puzzler. (https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.ca5.215588/gov.uscourts.ca5.215588.242.0_1.pdf)

I have to wonder if this isn't why the media isn't covering some of this? It's becoming such a mess, it's hard to figure out what the heck is going on. However, I still suspect it's because Trump is such click bait now and that's all the media cares about.

And now the US has asked the court to stay proceedings because of the SCOTUS grant of certiorari. But of course, that won't stop Burke's obsessive determination to put these lawyers in jail. For something. Anything. Just because.

The filing notes the request has nothing to do with the ethics proceedings.

Oh sure. But this will give Burke so much more time to focus on making these lawyers lives a living hell.

He's dug himself a hole by a casually tossed mention of judge shopping that's triggered this entire mess, and he won't do the right and proper thing and just say, no one did anything wrong.

(As you’ll see from my latest, I was neck-deep in the non-show cause aspects of all of this.)

You know all this crap is based on lies, don't you? Nobody advocates for minors to accelerate transitioning. They made that up. Nobody advocates for minors to have life-altering surgeries, either. It's all bogus and being concocted by fear-mongering GOP thugs. SMFH

They're after trans adults, not children. Our children are their smoke-screen. Mafia, I say ... Mafia/fascist tactics.

"They're after trans adults" - No doubt. And sure, going after the kids is convenient and easy. But I'd suggest that they are after *all* trans people. They want the ability to deny us any access to the public sphere. Basically to legislate us out of existence. Drive us back into the closet. Take away our meds and surgical interventions. On that basis, going after the next generation also makes sense. Big guns, every possible target.

They’re picking on the most vulnerable first. Just like they do … okay, never mind. I’m trans and we talk about this in our circles way more than they do here, Ms. Janet. I’m also Black and have seen all their tactics for more than half a century now. They just redirected the Black shit at trans people after making a pit stop pointing it at the LGB.

Oh believe me, I see the parallels. First it was blacks (and immigrants of various origins) who were a danger to women and children. Then the gays. Now us. Not to suggest that the animus against any other group has really subsided.

Right, it hasn’t subsided and the GOP is after both Black and trans. Whew this is exhausting, I tell you. I got a stress bump square on my nose from all this and I don’t get those damn things. 🙄

Don't these attorneys have any other legal recourse?

Why did U.S. District Judge Annemarie Axon transferred Ladinsky, the first-filed case. That's the question that needs to be answered. If judges can case shop then why can't lawyers judge shop?

I can't believe this waste of the court's time and resources is still happening. And the media is sleepwalking through the whole thing.

But evidently to the media, they need a 'source' to understand what's happening. But you can't be a 'source' because you're reporting on this case. So therefore, they don't have a 'source' when they have an excellent source.

And I'm really fed up with even nonprofit media orgs at this point.
