Oh gosh I hope they can at least delay it. It's astounding to me that death penalty cases can not consider new evidence that could exonerate the defendent. Even if the case is over any new evidence that could dispute the conviction should be considered.

Although what I think would be ethical would just be to ban the death penalty nationwide at all

I hate that the justice system is the injustice system when it comes to wrongful convictions. The forensic evidence in this case excludes Marcellus. The real killer has probably murdered other people while Marcellus has been locked up. And now he’s about to be murdered like the dozens of other innocent victims of state executions because multiple judges and Andrew Bailey refuse to admit the justice system gets things wrong

As a now-retired DP Public Defender's Office trial lawyer, I know a little bit about how this Justice face gets carbuncles on it. I am forwarding this to Death Penalty Action just prior to doing a vigil on the impending execution, because it might help their vigil efforts in Missouri. We are working on 1600 executions, folks, in this civilized country. Amen.

Clemency was denied by the Governor who hasn’t granted clemency to anyone. God rest his black and corrupted soul.

SOME IMPORTANT FACTS:

At least 200 people have been exonerated from death row in the United States since 1973.

The most common reasons for wrongful death penalty convictions (and wrongful convictions in general) are official misconduct and perjury or false accusation or faulty eyewitness testimony.

The average time between wrongful conviction and exoneration has roughly

TRIPLED in the past 20 years. In 2024, the average wait time is 38.7 years, which is the highest it's ever been.

Sigh. This case more than some warranted an explanation why the liberals dissented.

The execution of one innocent man justifies the ending of the death penalty everywhere. Just begin to imagine the horror if you were that one innocent man.

Innocence based off of what, that he says he is innocent? Why don’t you lot stop gnashing your teeth and wailing and look into the case itself for 2 seconds and explain how he had the victims possessions in his car and that his own girlfriend turned him in. Good riddance to a liar and a murderer.

It is becoming glaringly apparent that there are likely virtually no lawyers or judges in heaven.

Gov. Parson -- now that's a misnomer, unless he's a parson in the Church of Murder -- murdered Mr. Williams. I can only hope that Missouri voters will deliver retribution.
