Thank you. This tome is too long for many people to realistically read it. We will rely on reporting and other people to summarize and focus our attention.
My suggestion is to print out some of the more drastic and horrific steps the GOP and Trump want to do in the Project 2025 pages and then print out on the same paper equal amounts of things President Biden wants to accomplish in his next four years and hand these out to every person you see, or visit while canvassing.
Show the people the contrast! And wear this great VOTE t-shirt everyday until November 5th 👇
The office of the president. That's far more important to institutionalists likeBiden, Garland, Obama etc, place more importance on protecting the institutions of government over protecting our so called democracy.
Download the PDFs now, all of them, so you will have original versions. They will edit these to erase accountability toward those who now deny their involvement, such as Stephen Miller.
I understood Glenn's point to be that we should ALL download the PDFs. If the people who have copies are "the first ones up against the wall when the revolution comes", whether Chris has his own copy is almost irrelevant.
These people have always planned this. And, because of the miracle of the Web, they've always published it. And, at the risk of sounding like a sycophant, we have depended on people like the author of this blog to live and die in the trenches keeping watch, keeping them back, while we enjoyed ourselves in the most affluent society in world history.
And one by one the sentries have gotten tired, or old, or have been bought off by big defense law firms, or jobs with mass media, and the barbarians did what they wanted, because no one was watching them any more.
Or maybe it was boredom; maybe we secretly thrilled at the idea of being overrun by barbarians, because at least it would be more exciting than 2.5 kids and a corporate career and life in the suburbs.
Look at the suggestions people are making here. "Chris, keep going, we're right behind you." No, we're not. We're in the bleachers, watching.
DO something. Don't leave it to him. Register to vote; join a political campaign; do volunteer work; educate yourself, and use that education where it is most useful, human being to human being. Risk.
Sacrifice, even. Don't just cheer the people in the trenches on to be human blood offerings to our vicarious sense of being in the right.
I started with the Dept of Education section. Yeah, it takes a long time and the prose is pretty much unreadable. But saying "Eliminate the Dept of Education" doesn't begin to describe the dreck that is in it. A large part is Betsy DeVos on steroids on the subject of school vouchers, to include "faith based schools" with no accountability at all--it's part of block grants to each state also with no accountability because, I kid you not, paperwork is expensive.
Its treatment of LGBTQ kids in schools is beyond comprehension and meanness. A private right of action against anyone who doesn't address a student by the name on their birth certificate without WRITTEN authorization from the parent. So much for all the Betty's of the world. Or nicknames. My father's "birth name" was so cringeworthy that by age two he sat under the table and butted anyone who said it with his head. Hence, from before he could read, Buck.
And it wants to eliminate the accreditation requirement for funding of Post Secondary education. It specifically disses the ABA. So anyone can open Shyster Law School and teach only what America First Legal says the law is. (It doesn't get into the Bar Exam, though I can see that going if there are any questions on the First Amendment).
And much, much more.
No, probably most of us can make it through 900 pages, though I am going to try for a while. But choose the part that matters most to you personally and give it a try. Be sure to take your anti-nausea meds first.
That's certainly a more correct name, but given the spelling skills we've seen on MAGA signs since 2015, a shorter name is certainly preferable from a fascist perspective.
God help us all. If I were rich (or even had a middle class salary) I'd take out weekly ads for people to read this rolling horror story in small rural newspapers. Probably a dumb idea but people in rural Texas do read their paper.
posted only a little bit ago re the overturning of Chevron--
"Just playing devil's advocate, but our system of government works best when individual ambition is frustrated by process. If Trump wins, and creates, for instance, a Ministry of Morals, wouldn't we want to deny it the powers given under Chevron? After all, the only true rule in politics is "sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander"."
"I maintain (and have long maintained) that Miller is the worst person who served in the Trump administration, so, forgive me if I believe him even less than I believe Trump"
I believe it's correct that Stephen Miller was the most senior person who served throughout the Trump administration from Inauguration Day 2017 to Inauguration Day 2021). We can talk about the definition of "worst", but Miller certainly takes the cake for "average evil per day, times number of days they served". People like Flynn and Bannon could do worse on any given day, but they burned themselves out much more quickly. They were sprinters. Miller runs marathons.
Basically, federalize local law enforcement, and make cops and sheriffs adjuncts of the "conservative" punitive state. Oh, that's fecking brilliant, that is!
I kinda wish Biden would figure he's going home and therefore Go Big: send Trump and most of the Supreme Court to Guantanamo, because what could be a more official act than protecting democracy? I mean, sure, it would be crassly illegal and immoral but that doesn't count for much these days.
Thank you, counselor. Thank you for educating in easy to understand manner. Hopefully the information about p25 relayed and explained here and on more good people on our side spreads like a wildfire and even catches upto magats. Sure they wouldn't want to sacrifice everything for supposed maga=make oligarchs more rich.

Biden didn't do shit to stop the fascists these last almost 4 fucking years. It was business as usual. He protected the institution not us.
Protected what institution?
The office of the president. That's far more important to institutionalists likeBiden, Garland, Obama etc, place more importance on protecting the institutions of government over protecting our so called democracy.
What steps do you think should have been taken?
Ummm... Arresting the criminals 🤦♀️
900+ pages, to give us:
Cruelty is the point.
It's the GOP mission.

I posted my own version of the DOJ section, which is linked in the story, so, yes, I am aware that one should download documents.
I understood Glenn's point to be that we should ALL download the PDFs. If the people who have copies are "the first ones up against the wall when the revolution comes", whether Chris has his own copy is almost irrelevant.
Yes, I should have been clearer. Chris’s work with this is vital.
Thank you.

Manifesto 2025 is the correct name for it. Is America smart enough to not vote for fascism? I hope so.
Mein Kampf 2024...nice resonance to it.
Yes exactly
That's certainly a more correct name, but given the spelling skills we've seen on MAGA signs since 2015, a shorter name is certainly preferable from a fascist perspective.
Excellent article, Chris. What kind of freaks are these people? Nobody wants to live within their kind of government.
Here is a new ad from the Lincoln Project that describes life after Trump wins (Heaven forbid).

When you look into Miller's eyes, it becomes clear that he's dead inside. That help explains why he such a rotten person.

Nicely done; a public service.
