The president, Bonta said, "is probably the most powerful person in the world with their actual given official power ... but he regularly attempts to grasp and seize power that he does not have."
I was particularly taken by the assertion that DoJ is twisting like an acrobat to avoid litigating the substance of, say, the birthright case. It strikes me that SCOTUS is just as eager to avoid substance as well; and, it seems, that has proven so. I wonder if it’s to avoid putting such acrobatics down on paper … only to be scoffed at like the Dobbs decision?
Always good to hear from AG Bonta. Lots covered in a few minutes. Interesting to hear the AG perspective on nationwide injunctions past and present. In the future will be interesting to see how this evolves if back to nationwide or if all AGs will step up and do the hard work rather than rely on a few consistently reliable State AGs to come through.
These “unlawful conditions” placed on the Victims of Crime Act, do they not act to reward rapists? By limiting prosecution? Extra bonus for the getting of children, added by banning abortion? What’s next, the age of consent reduced to 10?
Truth

Great stuff. Thank you for your work. One minor point: I would advise against framing anything T**** does as “powerful,” soft or not.

Most inspirational. Bonta's closing remarks should be graven in stone. Superb interview, Chris.
